The state’s congressional delegation this week called on the Trump administration to help drought-impacted Vermont farmers access urgently-needed disaster assistance.

U.S. Sens. Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch and U.S. Rep. Becca Balint requested that the U.S. Department of Agriculture issue a Secretarial Disaster Designation for the entire state due to impacts of the severe drought in as many weeks. The disaster declaration would help farmers across the state access much-needed emergency programs and financial support.
