The federal government has unveiled a national plan to combat bullying in Australian schools, after suicide cases amongst young people prompted a review.
The move comes after an alarming number of youth suicides linked to bullying, prompting a renewed focus on the devastating impacts of such incidents on students and their families.
Under the new plan, schools will be required to act within two days of a bullying complaint being reported, as part of a sweeping national approach to address harmful behaviour in schools.
The report not only demands that schools take action within 48 hours but also outlines mandatory specialist training for teachers to better manage incidents and prevent future crises.
