Idukki: Heavy rains continue to lash across the central districts of Kerala, mainly Idukki following which the water levels in the Mullaperiyar dam has risen to 138 meters forcing the officials to release 14 shutters. The MET department has issued a yellow alert in 11 districts in the state.

Multiple areas in Idukki, including Kattappana and Nedumkandam , have experienced severe waterlogging, and families near the Periyar River have been advised to exercise extreme caution

Heavy rain, which began overnight on October 17, has caused flooding in numerous areas across the Idukki district. Parts of Nedumkandam , Kattappana, and Kumily have been submerged, with vehicles washed away in the Nedumkandam area.
