FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) - Highland Community College is set to undergo a $38 million expansion of its sports center, following a recent vote by the Board of Trustees.

The expansion aims to enhance both athletic and academic facilities at the college, which has shared its sports complex with the YMCA for years. The new designs include additional office space, locker rooms, a field house, and classrooms, addressing current limitations in space and resources.

"We want to grow both programs, both our athletic department and our physical education department," said Athletic Director Michael Broskowski. "It's going to allow our student athletes to maybe get more of a focus training area."
