CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The University of Virginia is rejecting the Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education.
In a message to the U.S. Department of Education released Friday afternoon, UVA Interim President Paul Mahoney wrote that “a contractual arrangement predicating assessment on anything other than merit [would] undermine the integrity of vital, sometimes lifesaving, research and further erode confidence in American higher education.”
