Private parking firms who chase down motorists for unpaid parking fines are generating a jaw-dropping profit margin of 63 per cent. Financial analysis by the MHCLG demonstrates that debt collection companies could operate sustainably with charges of around £26 per parking ticket, assuming payment rates remain constant.
But they charge £70 per ticket. Private parking operators have frequently faced accusations of employing misleading signage, aggressive debt collection tactics and imposing unreasonable fees.
