Brant County councillor Christine Garneau has announced her resignation.
In a Facebook post Friday afternoon, the first-term councillor — who represented Ward 5 with Brian Coleman — said she was stepping down immediately.
“Yesterday, I was placed in an irreconcilable conflict between my duty to the municipality and what was in the best interests of my business,” Garneau’s post went on to say.
The Spectator reached out to Garneau to ask about the business conflict she referenced, but did not immediately hear back.
Away from the horseshoe, Garneau is a “farmer, rural historian, genealogist and governance professional,” according to her website. She also owns and operates Creek View Acres Nursery & Orchard with her partner.
