With election day approaching on Nov. 4, Bernalillo County officials and poll workers are diligently preparing to ensure a secure and smooth voting process. Experts are anticipating a higher voter turnout due to mayoral races in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Officials have registered 360,000 voters in Bernalillo County, with even more across New Mexico, and are taking extra steps to ensure ballots are accurately counted.

"We haven't had any major concerns for this election," said Bernalillo County Bureau of Elections Administrator Nathan Jaramillo. "I'm extremely confident in the safety of security of elections for Bernalillo County."

Poll workers were seen by KOAT testing tabulation machines with sample ballots on Friday to ensure accuracy before counting real votes.
