The Berkley Department of Public Safety says a nonspecific social media post threatening a shooting at a school was not credible.

“My brother is going to shoot up the school tmr 10/14, don’t come!!!” the post said.

The Department of Public Safety said in a release that it became aware of the post on Oct. 13 and determined that it “did not reference any individual, specific school or district by name.”

“At this time, there is no credible or direct threat against Berkley Schools, and the post appears to be part of a broader social media trend affecting multiple communities across the state,” the release said.

The post originally appeared on Snapchat, and screenshots were later shared across Snapchat and Instagram among Berkley High School students and others in the area.
