First Alert Weather: First Alert Weather Day declared for heavy rain, gusty winds early Sunday morning

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - We have declared early Sunday morning, Oct. 19 as a First Alert Weather Day.

We are forecasting a line of heavy rain and gusty winds to move through central Alabama Sunday morning. The time frame is between midnight through 7 a.m. A few storms could become strong or severe, so you’ll need to have multiple ways to receive warnings just in case they are issued.

We are starting out the morning dry and warmer thanks to southerly winds. We have a variety of temperatures, but most locations are in the 60s. We are watching a cold front that is developing across the central United States. It will likely produce a line of storms along the Mississippi River and race to the east tonight giving us a risk to see a few strong or severe storms.
