JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Mississippi Department of Human Services is getting a reprieve on having to repay nearly $101 million funds misspent as part of the state’s largest welfare scandal.
On Friday, 3 On Your Side obtained a letter from the Administration for Children and Families informing MDHS that it was rescinding the penalty letter issued late last year and expected to issue a new one at the “appropriate time.”

The letter was sent to MDHS in April in response to its request seeking more time to “review documentation related to the penalty.”
