I read in a recent Sunday bulletin from St. Lucy’s something written by the Catholic Bishops of the United States. They said, “we proclaim every person, regardless of where they were born, is created in the image of God and has inherent dignity that deserves respect…” The Gospel and the social teaching of the (Catholic) Church continually confirm the equal dignity of every person, irrespective of race, nationality or immigrant status."
I managed the Refugee Resettlement program of Catholic Charities for many years. I met incredible people from all over the world who came here fleeing oppression. I also met hundreds of undocumented immigrants, most Latin Americans and Catholics, coming here as the only place where they could find a job to put food on the table for their fam
