Fall has fallen, Columbian readers. There’s no time like autumn for looking back at life and raking up a personal story or two for our “Everybody Has a Story” feature.

“Everybody Has a Story” is the weekly column — that’s what we try for, anyway — where Columbian readers share their own true stories.

What sorts of stories? Nearly anything fits the bill, whether silly or serious, ages ago or just this morning.

So far this year, we’ve witnessed a parrot that purveys Coca-Cola ; escaped a near-riot at a foreign airport ; and even learned how to dowse for water in high school physics class .
