CHICAGO (WGN) - Chicago police are investigating after two women were critically injured in two shootings just a few blocks apart in Little Italy.

Police said the shootings happened at around 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

A 52-year-old woman was at a gathering in a backyard located in the 1300 block of West Washburne Avenue when two armed men approached and fired shots before running off. The woman was shot in the right leg and arm and was treated by CPD officers at the scene before paramedics with the Chicago Fire Department arrived and took over. The woman was later taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, according to investigators.
