SAN ANTONIO — One person is dead and another was injured after police said gunfire broke out early Saturday morning in downtown San Antonio.

Officers were called around 4 a.m. after a reported disturbance off East Commerce Street where police said shots were fired.

According to police, the first victim was shot near Alamo Plaza. That unidentified individual was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Investigators said the suspects ran toward the Denny’s located at East Commerce and Bowie Street, where they shot a second person. That victim, also unidentified, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers responding to the scene saw a vehicle speeding away and briefly chased it before the suspects bailed out and fled on foot, SAPD said.
