(KRON) — A pedestrian was hit and killed on Highway 101 near South Airport Boulevard in South San Francisco shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Hyundai Ionic was headed northbound on the highway when for an unknown reason, a man ran across the highway and into the path of the oncoming car.
The Hyundai hit the man and the driver pulled over into the slow lane of the highway and called 911. At that time, a red Kia Soul crashed into the stopped Hyundai and rolled onto its side.
“CHP units arrived and began life saving measures for the male pedestrian,” CHP said.
Paramedics arrived and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at 3:14 a.m. Multiple lanes of the highway were closed for several hours while CHP investigated the crash.
