CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two men were killed and two others injured early Saturday after gunfire erupted outside a gas station on the city’s east side, Cleveland police said.

Officers responded around 1:15 a.m. Saturday to reports of gunfire near the Sunoco station on Fleet Avenue near Broadway Avenue, according to police. When they arrived, officers found four men with gunshot wounds.

A 37-year-old man and a 46-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene. A 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

Preliminary reports indicate that an altercation broke out between several people at the gas station before shots were fired. Investigators recovered two firearms at the scene and are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
