Police are probing an allegation of serious sexual assault against a double rapist who faked his own death and fled to Spain.
Former gym boss James Clacher was jailed for eight years earlier this month after being found guilty of two rape charges at the High Court in Glasgow. The 57-year-old attacked the women in their homes after meeting them through dating apps in 2019 and 2020.
In May 2022, Clacher, from Airdrie, went missing while facing charges. His car was found dumped at a car park in Loch Long in Argyll and a suicide note suggested he planned to take his own life by going into the water there, reports the Record.
It later emerged he had escaped to Spain and he was eventually traced by the country's Civil Guard in May last year in Nerja on the Costa del Sol.
