An alleged drug peddler became unconscious and died while police were trying to nab him in Kondhwa area of Pune city, late evening on Friday. Police identified the deceased as Azim Abu Salem alias Azim Khan (51), resident of Mira Bhayandar in Thane district.

Police said Azim is a history sheeter, who was earlier booked in cases of drugs smuggling. This time, a team of Mira Bhayandar police who had been searching for Azim in connection with a Mephedrone seizure case lodged at the Kashigaon police station.

After searching for him in Ratnagiri and Kolhapur district, the police team reached Pune . Cops received information that he had been hiding in an apartment at Kausar Baug in Kondhwa area.
