NBA star PJ Washington is asking the court to shut down his ex Brittany Renner’s demand for a five-figure monthly child support payment, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

On Friday, October 17, the Dallas Mavericks forward, 27, claimed Renner’s petition to increase the current child support of $5,500 a month to $35,000 a month for their four-year-old son, Paul III, is improper.

Washington explained the current child support order was established as part of a court case between the exes in North Carolina. He said during the court battle, Renner was found in civil contempt for denying him court-appointed parenting time.

He claimed the exes settled before the scheduled trial in North Carolina. Washington said at the time Renner agreed that the $5,500 was sufficient for their child’s needs.
