SMITHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An animal rescue organization out of Mt. Juliet removed several cats from a deplorable situation in DeKalb County.

True Rescue assisted with the removal of 20 cats from a home after the owner had passed away. Staff arrived to find that the felines had been living in “hoarding” conditions.

Piles of trash, half-eaten food, animal excrement and urine were present in every room.

Very difficult case in DeKalb County, TN yesterday, where a woman had perished in her home, which was filled with cats.
