BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WILX) - No. 3 Indiana leads Michigan State 21-10 at halftime in the Battle for the Old Brass Spittoon.

Michigan State came in with a 50-19-2 all-time record against Indiana, and the two have played for the Old Brass Spittoon trophy since 1950. The Hoosiers won last year’s matchup in East Lansing, 47-10.

Indiana came into the game ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25, its highest ranking ever.

Michigan State got the ball first and drove 55 yards on 13 plays to set up kicker Martin Connington for a 38-yard field goal that gave MSU a 3-0 lead.

Indiana responded with a touchdown on its first drive, a 13-yard touchdown pass from Fernando Mendoza to E.J. Williams Jr. that made it 7-3 Hoosiers.
