SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Over 3,000 people headed to Forsyth Park Saturday for the 20th Annual Buddy Walk, hosted by the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society.
The event kicked off Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. with opening ceremonies, which led into a one-mile walk through Forsyth Park. There was also a Family Fun event from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Buddy Walk, a walk of celebration and community, raises awareness for those with Down syndrome. Proceeds from the event helps programs like Camp Buddy, a summer camp designed to help students retain skills over summer break.
