DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) -- One person is dead, and another is injured after a boat capsized Saturday afternoon in Oregon Inlet in Dare County, North Carolina.
According to North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, two adults were taking a 50-foot sportfishing vessel from Cape May, New Jersey to Florida and had to make a stop in Beaufort, North Carolina for repairs to a damaged prop.
While navigating Oregon Inlet, the vessel capsized. Officials say the vessel was under power from three of the four engines.
Both occupants were subsequently in the water without life jackets. One occupant, 29-year-old Taylor Flannery was recovered by the U.S. Coast Guard and taken to the Outer Banks Hospital with minor injuries.
