TORONTO – George Springer is “feeling better” after taking a fastball off his knee.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider gave today’s update as Toronto prepares to host the Seattle Mariners in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series.
Springer went down after a two-seamer from Seattle reliever Bryan Woo clipped his right knee in the top of the seventh inning on Friday.
The Blue Jays held a 2-1 lead in the game at the time but the Mariners rallied to a 6-2 victory and a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Schneider says that Springer had a CT scan and X-ray and both came back negative.
Rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage will get the start for Toronto in Game 6 and Logan Gilbert will take the mound for Seattle.
