AMHERST - With victory within its grasp, the UMass football team let a game slip away on Saturday, as the Minutemen fell to Buffalo, 28-21, at McGuirk Alumni Stadium.
“Obviously a heartbreaker,” UMass coach Joe Harasymiak said. “A lot of opportunities to win the game. Especially in the fourth quarter.”
The Minutemen (0-7, 0-3 MAC) held a one-point lead with 59 seconds remaining. Jeremiah McGill had just intercepted Buffalo, giving UMass possession with a chance to close out the game. UMass ended up punting to the Bulls (4-3, 3-0 MAC).
“We had a chance to run the clock out and get a first down to win the game,” Harasymiak said. “We didn’t do that.”
