Washoe County’s library board voted 4-1 to ask the county for a flat budget next year, requesting the county dedicate the same amount of funds promised to the library in the July 2025 through June 2026 budget year .

The board’s request would be for around a $17.6 million for the budget year starting July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Assistant County Manager Dave Solaro said this number is fluid based on potential increases to the library's contractual agreements.

If the commission approves this flat budget request, all libraries would stay open and the hours would remain roughly the same. This budget would also allow the library to fill all of their current staff vacancies.
