Four people were killed in a crash on U.S. 60 near Gold Canyon, according to a Facebook post from Superstition Fire & Medical District officials.
Crews responded just before midnight on Oct. 17 to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes near Peralta Regional Park, officials said.
Crews arrived to find one vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with multiple passengers ejected from the vehicle, according to officials.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one person was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where they later died of their injuries, officials said.
Eastbound U.S. 60 was expected to remain closed for an extended period, officials said.
As of 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18, it was unclear whether the lanes were reopened.
