WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - More than 20 “No Kings” protests took place across eastern Iowa on Saturday, with large crowds gathering in Waterloo to demonstrate against the Trump administration.
“Our democracy is under more risk than it’s been since the civil war, probably,” Young said.
Lauri and Jim Young have attended several anti-Trump protests this year. Despite their serious concerns about the political situation, the couple said the demonstrations provide a sense of community and support.
“But it also gives us the feeling of support around us, we’re not alone in this,” Lauri Young said.
“It’s refreshing to see this many people out here. People of all stripes, all colors, all backgrounds,” Jim Young said.
Other protesters expressed similar sentiments about the turnout. Some participan
