NINETY SIX -- Ninety Six pulled off a stunning upset Friday night, defeating No. 8 ranked Saluda by a score of 28-27 for the first time since 2018 in a statement win that shook the Lakelands.
The Wildcats set the tone from the very first minute.
Senior running back Carver Davis broke free for a 56-yard touchdown, sparking early momentum that carried through the night.
Ninety Six head coach Mathew Bennett praised his team’s effort and resilience after the upset victory.
“They’ve battled and fought hard. Saluda is a good football team. This shouldn’t take anything away from him. We were just one point better tonight,” Bennett said.
