Tel Aviv: Hamas handed over two coffins of deceased hostages from the Gaza Strip, Israel confirmed on Sunday. This move marks a sombre development in the ongoing ceasefire talks.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared a series of posts on X, saying the remains were received via the Red Cross and the coffins were transferred to Israeli authorities.

The remains will first be honoured in a military ceremony led by the IDF Chief Rabbi, and then they will be sent to Tel Aviv’s National Centre of Forensic Medicine for identification.

“Israel has received, via the Red Cross, 2 coffins containing the remains of deceased hostages, which were handed over to an IDF & ISA force inside Gaza Strip,” PMO stated in its post.
