Two teenage boys have been charged after police foiled two attempted carjackings in Melbourne's east overnight.

Police allege the teenagers threatened to carjack two cars on Seymour Street in Ringwood about 11.15pm.

Officers, who were being given live updates from a witness, intervened during a second alleged carjacking attempt.

Police arrested the alleged offenders at the scene.

One attempted to flee and a taser was used to stop him, police said.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old were interviewed by police and both were charged with attempted carjacking.

The par will appear before a children's court today.
