OREGON, Ohio — More than 200 members of Scouting America gathered at Maumee Bay State Park over the weekend for the Camporee, a three-day event where scouts from across Ohio honed outdoor skills, earned merit badges, and strengthened bonds of teamwork and friendship.
Scouts from as nearby as Toledo and as far away as Mansfield and Columbus arrived Friday to kick off the weekend of camping, learning, and adventure. The Camporee focused on teaching practical outdoor skills that organizers say stick with participants well into adulthood.
"I love to be here. It's great to be here," said Eagle Scout Ann Mannon. "It means a lot to me to go around and learn different things on how I can help the community."
Throughout the weekend, Scouts participated in activities ranging from disc golf to w
