Scottish Greens co-leader Gillian Mackay says becoming a new mum has made her more determined to fight for families on issues like childcare and the cost of living. ‌

Mackay, 34, is still officially on maternity leave after giving birth to her first child, baby boy Callan, in June. ‌

Since then, however, she has been elected to lead the Greens alongside Ross Greer - replacing Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater. ‌

Ahead of the party’s conference, she told the Sunday Mail: “It has brought into sharp focus for me issues around childcare and the inflexibility of it.
