Detroit — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan CEO Tricia Keith is trying to dig the state's largest health insurer out of a massive $1.4 billion deficit it racked up in 2024.

That has spurred a combination of cutbacks at the not-for-profit mutual insurance company, which has pared its downtown Detroit workforce from 6,000 to 5,000 over the past year.
