GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - The Gulfport Fire Department (GFD) responded to reports of a grass fire along I-10 near mile marker 37 around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

GFD Chief Billy Kelly said the fire, located just west of the Cowan-Lorraine interchange, began when contractors were doing a controlled burn and it spread to grass nearby.

Smoke from the fire may affect visibility on I-10, so travelers should drive with caution and expect delays.
