Voters in many small communities and school districts in Northern New Mexico will have some decisions to make Nov. 4.
In Las Vegas, N.M., Mayor David Romero is running for reelection against challengers Katrin Scholz-Barth, a competitive swimmer and bricklayer from the former East Germany who moved to town three years ago, and Jaylene Marie Quiles, a San Miguel County native who has previously run for several local offices.
Romero, who was a city councilor, was named mayor in late 2023 after the resignation of Mayor Louie Trujillo.
