A man has been charged after police allegedly seized a commercial quantity of illicit drugs in a vehicle stop in south-west New South Wales.

At about 2pm on Friday, highway patrol officers on the Sturt Highway at Hay, in the NSW Riverina region, stopped a black luxury SUV to conduct a random breath test and roadside drug test on the driver.

The 30-year-old driver of the vehicle returned a negative breath test for alcohol but a positive result for drugs.

The man was then searched and police allegedly found cocaine and cash in his possession.

Police then searched the vehicle and allegedly seized more than 5kg of methylamphetamine and more than 11kg of cocaine, more than $130,000 in cash and two mobile phones.
