According to a recent analysis, the cost of breast cancer care in Colorado has risen 34% between 2017 and 2023.

That trend was one of many revealed through the Center for Improving Value in Healthcare’s latest “Chronic Conditions Analysis,” which is based on data from the state’s All-Payer Claims Database: a system containing the large majority of health care insurance claims filed each year.

Those claims indicate that, in 2023, the average cost of breast cancer care was about $36,000.

The report stated that the overall cost accounts for an average of $13,000 in outpatient services, $11,000 in “professional services,” $7,000 in pharmaceuticals and $6,000 in inpatient care.
