ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Lobo football team has now picked up its fourth win of the season and first inside of Mountain West play. New Mexico defeated Nevada 24-22 late on Saturday night.
To open the game, the Lobos marched down the field for a 16-play, 75-yard, drive that ate up 7:50. After that, the Lobos never trailed. Nevada was able to hang around thanks to a few turnovers on a muffed punt and a fumble, both in New Mexico territory.
The Lobos dominated the ground game and racked up 210 rushing yards on 42 carries. Starting quarterback Layne was the team's leading rusher with 71 yards. 54 came on one play.
DJ McKinney scored two touchdowns, including a 22 yarder. Scottre Humphrey was the only other Lobo to find the endzone.
