An early start time was no trouble for the Vancouver Canucks.

Facing a rare 9:30 a.m. (Pacific) opening faceoff, the Canucks burst out of the gate with three first-period goals, then held on for a 4-3 win over the host Washington Capitals in NHL action Sunday at Capital One Arena. Vancouver has won three games in a row, all on the road in less than 72 hours.

Centre Elias Pettersson, Tyler Myers and Kiefer Sherwood all scored in the first 20 minutes for the Canucks (4-2-0) and the Caps never recovered. Teddy Blueger had the other Vancouver goal, with Thatcher Demko making 28 saves to earn the win in goal. Ryan Leonard, Jakob Chychrun and John Carlson replied for the Caps (4-2-0). Charlie Lindgren took the loss in goal, stopping 19 of 23 shots.
