A Victorian woman who witnessed the aftermath of a violent machete attack outside Luna Park plans to avoid future trips to Melbourne due to the state’s crime crisis.
Two teenagers were violently assaulted in an alleged machete attack outside the St Kilda theme park on Sunday evening, less than half an hour before an American comedian was set to perform at the nearby Palais theatre.
Victoria Police said the two teenage boys had been approached by a group of male offenders armed with machetes at about 6.35pm.
“The two teens sustained slash wounds and were treated at the scene for minor injuries,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on Cavell Street, which separates Luna Park and the Palais - where American Jeff Arcuri was set to perform at 7pm.
