TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A major traffic study is underway for one of the East Valley’s busiest freeway intersections, and officials want your input on potential solutions.

The Maricopa County Association of Governments (MAG) is studying traffic patterns where Loop 101 and Loop 202 intersect near Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale. The study focuses on the Loop 101 Price Freeway between U.S. 60 and the Loop 202, and on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway from Priest Drive to Dobson Road.

Heavy traffic volumes create safety concerns

Daily traffic counts show the intersection handles significant volume. The west side sees 250,000 cars daily, while the north side handles 260,000. The east side carries 170,000 vehicles, and the south side sees 307,000 cars each day.
