Details are emerging in the death of former NFL running back Doug Martin.

Martin, who passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 36, was identified as the suspect who died in Oakland Police Department custody after suffering an unspecified medical emergency.

He was a suspect because of a break-in at a home near the Oakland Zoo.

Police were called to a home in East Oakland around 4:15 a.m., and at the same time, they received a call that the same individual was experiencing a medical emergency.

According to local outlet, KTVU, Martin was allegedly arrested after police officers responded to a home on the 11000 block of Ettrick Street, in a neighborhood in Oakland, CA.
