Authorities have made an arrest in a 2021 Fayetteville homicide, taking a man into custody in New York on Monday.

Derames Freeman of Troy, New York, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals in Albany, New York, for the murder of Kenneth Miles Jr.

Miles was killed in Fayetteville on Oct. 7, 2021 , at 25 years old. Family members said he was shot at least three times at close range. Cumberland County deputies responded to a home on Summerwind Drive after learning of the shooting.

Freeman was charged with first degree murder and is being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility under no bond and is awaiting extradition back to Fayetteville.
