SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Aaron Vega has been appointed as the new president and CEO of the WesternMass Economic Development Council, succeeding Rick Sullivan, who led the organization for 11 years.
Vega, a Holyoke native and former state representative, was selected after a nationwide search that attracted over 100 applicants. He is recognized for his strategic growth initiatives and plans to focus on relationship-building and supporting economic development across the region.
"I’m very excited," Vega said, reflecting on the lengthy screening process. "For me now, this role makes total sense on my trajectory, but there’s no way I was planning this. I’m astonished and very thankful to be able to do important work in my home region."
