Clay, N.Y. – A Salina man is in critical condition after a high-speed motorcycle crash on Friday in Clay, State Police said Monday.

The man injured is Michael J. Rubino, 30, troopers said.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, Rubino was traveling south on Oswego Road/Rt. 57 on a 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he collided with the back of a car, troopers said in a news release.

The car, a 2021 BMW, had pulled out of the Splash Car Wash Express at 7795 Oswego Road and was also heading south.

Rubino was taken to Upstate University Hospital.

The driver of the car, Thomas A. Aloi, 79, of Lysander, was not injured.

The crash shut down Oswego Road for hours starting just before 3 p.m.

The investigation of the crash remains ongoing, troopers said.
