A woman from Murphy, NC is in custody after a two-month-long drug trafficking investigation.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said Fannin County deputies arrested Ashli Shawnai Roberts on Thursday, October 16.
Investigators tied Roberts to the distribution of fentanyl in Cherokee County, which they say resulted in multiple overdoses.
Cherokee County authorities say Roberts was on her way back to Murphy from Atlanta with a large quantity of fentanyl when Fannin County deputies found her. Deputies then conducted a traffic stop in Blue Ridge, GA.
In her vehicle, deputies found "a trafficking amount of fentanyl," which they say she admitted to having.
Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said Roberts also admitted to selling fentanyl in Cherokee County.
Roberts is currently in custody at
