STATEWIDE -- The Forest industry continues to be an important part of Maine’s economy.

A new report released today shows it supports 29 thousand jobs in the state .

The Maine Forest Products Council collaborated with the Maine Department of Economic and community development on the report which compares data from 2019 and 2024.

It encapsulates anomalies including a global pandemic, extraordinary weather events and the unexpected loss of a century of Paper Mill.

The data shows the forestry industry made an 8.3 economic contribution to Maine in 2024.
