EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Fresh off a weekend sweep of then-No. 1 Boston University, Michigan State hockey took the top spot in the weekly USCHO poll on Monday.
The Spartans, who were No. 3 last week, leapt over No. 2 Western Michigan to take the No. 1 ranking.
The University of Michigan climbed one spot to No. 3, as Boston University slid to No. 4.
All of the top three teams in this week’s poll (Michigan State, Western Michigan, Michigan) hail from the state of Michigan.
No. 3 Michigan and No. 2 Western Michigan will play a home-and-home this week, Thursday in Ann Arbor and Friday in Kalamazoo.
No. 1 Michigan State will travel to Marquette for two games at Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday, with Friday’s game broadcasting on WILX-TV at 7 p.m.
